My wife and I just completed an unforgettable 13-day Alaska land+cruise journey with Holland America (Nieuw Amsterdam). Their competence, communications, organization, and generosity are difficult to match. I must mention our train car guide Jayne on the 8 hour trip from Denali to Anchorage. She informed, entertained, and made us laugh the whole time. The cruise and the excursions were outstanding and the food was exceptional and abundant; the scenery breathtaking. Our room on the 6th deck was spacious with a king bed, a deck with fantastic view, and a bathroom nicer than most hotels. In fact, rooms are a lot nicer than the pictures I saw on their website! In 2015 we began a quest to see all 50 US capitols; Juneau was the last one, and we are glad we chose Holland America to complete our quest.

Tip: if you book on HAL site (because you cannot find your particular cruise on Costco travel), you have 30 days to transfer your booking to Costco travel and Costco will send you a shopping card ($$$!) at the conclusion of your cruise.

We booked for the first time in Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam ship verandah room for Alaska tour.
While booking, we confirm Indian vegetarian food availability in the ship.
Unfortunately, it is very hard to find vegetarian food in Lido and other restaurants. new York pizza was good & vegetarian burger bad in taste.
most of upper deck good view space was reserved by cabana to make more money .
spa/ salon /massage/acupunctures prices are higher side .
Also, we found hair in rice lunch at lido restaurant and informed the available manager.
There's not too much activity in the ship. There are cards / games /brush paintings available .
The movie shown in the afternoon in the world stage was boring. Only stage dance performances were good.
Only 2-3 expensive stores on the 3rd floor .most of the item prices are higher than Port prices.
We got 2 coupons in rooms, $250 for jewelry, and $100 for photos. we were so excited when we tried to use in Effy jewelry minimum spending $1000 & photos premium plan $400.
Everything is expensive in cruise from specialty cuisines/ bar / soft drinks/ special coffee/milk shakes .
$17 per room gratuity is higher side.

Effy diamond stores raffle gives very cheap gifts and wasted our time .
On 2nd floor artwork stores, we won free artwork in raffle prizes and asked $35 shipping from Miami to New York total Ripoff. The manager Rein was rude.
The photo store takes pictures
every where in ship & sells $110 for 5 pic to $499 for 30 pictures expensive.
The Nieuw Amsterdam ship is old and rusted most of the places.
The balcony rooms are not wow. Carpet & furniture in our room is not good in condition.
The ship staff was polite and smiling.
Ship is not recommended if you wanted activities. it's good for retired people.
The ship waited for late coming guests
more than 40 minutes after giving boarding time delays ship departure almost an hour for which complaint to customers service manager.
one of port all shore excursion was cancelled due to bad weather where as on that port weather was excellent another mismanagement .
Rolling Stone live singing was good.
they lied about disembarkation at Vancouver Canada place fruits not allowed to take out but seriously no one was checking your bags /hand luggage or custom forms.
ship is not recommended.

Love cruising with HAL! Just finished my 11th cruise, 9th with Holland America Line.

Delicious food, with lots of options for a variety of dietary needs.

Rooms are clean and comfy - small, but well designed with lots of storage.

The kids' programs are well-organized, and our kids loved it (aged 8 & 13).

Go for the Have It All Package. Up to 15 drinks a day, free wifi, money towards excursions, free meal at the specialty restaurant(s), and gratuities included.

We will definitely be back as soon as we can!

This is my second cruise and the cruise line was pretty good but they were just too many people on the boat. There's a little wait for everything. The room was great. The service was great. I wish that they had a little more staff. I was talking to all the staff members and they seem to say that they need a little help. I like the fact that they have pickleball court on the boat. You can definitely play but it's pretty windy and a boat rocks a little bit on sea days.

Our cruise experience with Holland America Line departing from Fort Lauderdale was exceptional, especially for my mother and me. From cocktail hours to elegant gala nights, Holland America kept us entertained with activities that were both fun and sophisticated. Meeting the captain and attending the captain's dinner were memorable experiences that added a touch of elegance to our evenings. ?Overall, our Holland America cruise exceeded expectations with its impeccable service, luxurious amenities, and thoughtful accommodations. For anyone considering a cruise, especially departing from Fort Lauderdale, I highly recommend Holland America for a memorable and relaxing voyage at sea! ⚓️?

Had a great 15 days, ports were great, with hind sight should have done our own thing and not booked tours of ship as not even close to value for money. Not worth the drinks package for us either. Panama Canal made the trip worth it.

My mother & I took the Volendam cruise ship leaving from Boston, Mass. and ending in Montreal, Canada.
Overall I really enjoyed the cruise. The staff onboard is Excellent, they helped me a lot with my 82 yr. old mother who doesn't walk well. They were caring and so considerate.

The Volendam is a smaller ship, which I liked, easier to find your way around. I think the ship could use some updating (hallways, etc.)

Overall the food was good, especially in the dining room. The desserts in the Lido Market were mostly horrible. A cupcake that should be light & airy inside tasted like a muffin.

My biggest complaint is with the corporate office, not the staff or ship itself. They claim that for excursions: " Guaranteed best price — find a better price on any tour we offer and we'll refund you 100 percent of the price difference in the form of an onboard credit. " I submitted a claim and they never responded. I called their 1-800 # and spoke with someone who said it was declined, I asked for an email explanation, Never received it!
I emailed them about this over 3 weeks ago, received a general acknowledgement email and NO response.
This is not customer service!!!
